Advocacy
ASPPA is the only organization made up exclusively of retirement plan professionals and actively advocating for legislative and regulatory changes to expand and improve the private pension system. ASPPA takes a leading role in obtaining legislative changes to simplify laws governing pensions and in promoting retirement plan coverage. Many recently enacted pension law changes were proposals developed by ASPPA’s Government Affairs Committee. To attain this level of influence, ASPPA’s volunteer members and staff are in regular contact with key people involved in pension issues in the congressional and executive branches of government. Keeping ASPPA’s positions in the forefront, the organization representatives routinely testify at congressional and regulatory hearings.
